"Georgetown Icons"

A New Museum Quality Book Commissioned by Georgetown University

Washington, DC (April 1, 2010) – The Ignatian ideals, sweeping history and spirit of Georgetown University  are beautifully illustrated in the new book, “Georgetown Icons.” Commissioned by Georgetown University, this pre-eminent, museum quality coffee table book captures the soul of the nation’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university, pairing fine art photographs with quotations from Georgetown academics, alumni, renowned philosophers, political figures and thinkers.

Produced by award -author and alumna, Leslie J. Little (C’86), the project will be launched by Ms. Little and Dean Chester Gillis in collaboration with the Georgetown University Alumni Association on April 29th during the association’s John Carroll Weekend in Washington, DC.

“Georgetown Icons” follows the award-winning design of Ms. Little’s first publication, “Paris Icons” which received three international book awards including the 2009 Gold Medal for Most Outstanding Book Design from the Independent Publishers Association; the 2009 silver medal for best travel essay from ForeWord Magazine and Independent Publishers 2009 bronze medal for the best coffee table book of the year.

“Next to the Book of Kells, ‘Paris Icons’ is the most beautiful book I’ve ever beheld,” Georgetown College Dean Chester Gillis said. “‘Georgetown Icons’ will be a timeless work of art and a publication that transports the readers directly to the heart of the Georgetown experience.”

Little will be previewing “Georgetown Icons” and signing first edition “Paris Icons” books at the John Carroll Weekend event.  “Georgetown Icons” will be published in 2011, and is being sold exclusively by reservation. To order “Georgetown Icons” visit www.georgetownicons.com.
